Welcome to the “Iraqi Hard Tissue Society”.
The main aim of the society is to encourage the collaboration between clinicians and scientists for the benefits of patients. We have focused on the hard tissue structures because of the particular challenges posed by disease affecting these areas. While many of the techniques we use are applicable to other anatomical sites, we feel that the hard tissue structures merits special attention rather than just being subsumed into larger more general forums. That is not to say we will work in isolation but rather we will interact with other specialist organisations where appropriate.
Iraqi Hard Tissue Society (IHTS) allows cross over interaction between different specialties with common interests. The scope of the society ranges from molecular biology to clinical sciences and have a wide appeal to both scientists and practicing clinicians.
IHTS will be represented by a new journal to be launched in the near future. The journal will be open access, peer-reviewed online journal that encompasses all aspects of clinical practice, basic and translational research on the aetiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, assessment, management, follow-up and prognosis of patients suffering from trauma, deformity, musculoskeletal disorders and any condition affecting the hard tissues of the human body.
Finally, we aim to encourage international collaboration. The Society will provide a forum for exchange of ideas and experience and also help develop networks that will be able to attract major funding from grant giving bodies.
